BUILD & RACE: STEM IN REAL LIFE (IRL)

 LABco’s BUILD & RACE: STEM In Real Life (IRL) program puts students in the driver’s seat—combining hands-on STEM building of RC cars, planes, and drones with advanced VR simulation and real-world racing. Students design, assemble, and customize their own vehicles, then use VR SIM rigs to safely practice operating both the virtual models and the real vehicles they’ve built. Through real-world field trip experiences—including immersive activations at partner sites, innovation labs, and live racing/aviation environments—students connect engineering concepts to authentic industry settings and career pathways.

What’s included: The program features industry-aligned curriculum, guest speakers, field trips, and a capstone showcase with live and virtual races. Students choose a focus in Racing, Aviation, or VR SIM Technologies to earn certificates and credits toward pursuing FIA motorsports and FAA Part 107 pilot pathways. Students seeking further study or certification can access digital badges, letters of recommendation, and scholarship guidance.
